Sometimes people come to therapy because they’re overwhelmed by anxiety or depression. Sometimes a relationship has changed, a loss has shaken them, or something in life simply stopped fitting. And sometimes, beneath all of those things, is a quieter question: Who am I, really?
At the heart of Courtney’s work is the belief that healing and authenticity are deeply connected. She creates a space where clients can explore their stories with curiosity, compassion, and honesty, discovering not who theyshouldbe, but who they already are beneath the expectations, shame, and survival strategies they’ve carried for so long.
Before becoming a therapist, Courtney spent nearly two decades in ministry before making her own transition into the mental health field. That experience gives her a unique perspective when working with adults and families navigating religious trauma, faith deconstruction, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the work of creating healthier patterns and more meaningful connections.
Her approach is rooted in attachment theory, feminist therapy, Relational-Cultural Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, somatic practices, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). She believes healing happens in the context of safe relationships and that curiosity is one of the kindest ways we can meet ourselves.
Outside the office, Courtney lives in the City of Decatur with her husband and their two sons. She’s happiest when she’s lost in a great book, discovering a new favorite restaurant, planning her next adventure, or becoming way too emotionally invested in fictional characters on television.
Whether you’re navigating a difficult season, questioning old beliefs, strengthening family relationships, or simply longing to feel more like yourself again, Courtney would be honored to walk alongside you. Therapy isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about reconnecting with the person you’ve always been.
